It seems to be that seniors at Osceola need to figure out that scholarships and grants are the only way they will be able to attend college, but on the other hand students just plan on making it on their own by paying for college out of pocket. They even want to save money by staying home for two years or even working so their parents won’t have the burton of paying for all their college expenses. Tyler Kincaid, 12th grade, said, “I want to go to SPC. I’m going to pocket, meaning I’m going to pay for it with my own money. I work at pier 60 on Clearwater beach. With the GPA I have I don’t think any colleges would want me. “ Many other students don’t know what college they want to attend but still in search of a scholarship or grant. Nathan Hamel, 12th grade, said, “I don’t know what college I want to go to it’s just so many. I want a scholarship hopefully I would pretty much take anything I’m given. Right now I’m just making composites of them.” Students seem to be interested in getting Bright Futures and if that fails are considering a backup plan. Briana Charniak, 12th grade, said, “I’m working toward my Bright Futures so I can attend UF. I want to become a sports agent. I’m also doing state and federal grants.” Kelly Walters, 12th grade, said, “I’m hoping to get the Bright Futures and hopefully many others. I plan on going to SPC for my first two years and then going to UCF for my last two years because it’s cheaper.” Kelly Souriyong, 12th, said, “I’m applying for bright futures and many that available for me. I plan on going to SPC for about two years then transferring to FAU or a college up North.” Michelle Lam, 12th grade, said, “I want to try and apply for Bright Futures but I don’t know if I can with my GPA, but I plan on going to SPC for two years and then going to USF for the rest.” There is a college room located by student’s services if looking for information about college.
