Hundreds of 11th and 12th grade students looked for the perfect college that will fit their interests and needs on Sunday, October 7th, at the University of South Florida, Saint Petersburg campus Student Center. USFSP holds a rather large college fair every year that may help teens pick the right college. Teens from all over St. Pete had the opportunity to meet with universities such as: Penn State, the University of Central Florida, and of course the University of South Florida along with others, and gain a sense of knowledge of the college requirements and offerings. 12th grade Warrior, Chelsea Sermons, was eager to be part of the action and felt that the University of Central Florida really stood out.
“They take a 3.5 GPA and SAT is a 1640, but I’m not really sure about ACT,” said Sermons.
Another student is looking farther south.
“I liked FMU; it’s down in Miami. You have to have a 2.0 to get accepted and a 3.5 to get a full ride,” said McKenzie Rock, 11th grade.
Other students are planning to travel north, such as Ezekiel Rosenbluth, 11th grade, who is interested in engineering.
“There were lots of colleges that were broad and not so specific. The University of Massachusetts stood out more than the others,” said, Rosenbluth.
In all, Warriors that attended the event left more informed about the college that they want to attend and enjoyed the experience.
“I thought it was really good but I was disappointed that some of the colleges weren’t there, like some booths were empty,” said Sermons.
“It was short but enjoyable,” said Rosenbluth.
