The Super Bowl is the most watched annual TV event by far, according to NBC Sports. Super Bowl 58 featured the Kansas City Chiefs versus the San Fransico 49ers and took place in Las Vegas, Navada. According to NBC Sports, “61,629 people attended the game”. Needless to say, many people watched the big game. The Chiefs won, taking a back-to-back win.
This year, there was a split between rooting for teams. Freshman Gianna Rinaldi expressed how she “wanted the Chiefs to win, and I am so excited they came out on top!” Lexi Berglund also “wanted the chiefs to win because I really like that team”. But others, like sophomore Josh Pearson, said, “I watched the game and was rooting for the 49ers. I was upset when they lost.” Everyone watched as Patrick Mahomes threw the ball to Mecole Hardman and got the winning touchdown. Isabella Zuzek, a 49ers fan, said “I was very disappointed when that play happened.” Although, Harper Kalal “was super excited when the Chiefs won it again.” It was an unfortunate night for the 49ers and their fans, but an exciting night for the Chiefs and their supporters.
The Super Bowl is primarily football, but many other fans watch for other reasons. This includes the advertisements and the half-time show. Superbowl 58’s half-time show was performed by Usher. Usher has won 8 Grammys, and he mainly sings contemporary R and B, and pop music. There were many mixed feelings about his performance. Carly Carbaugh, freshman, said, “I watched the first few minutes of the show and thought that it looked cool.” Of course, some of the warriors thought otherwise about the performance. Freshman Lexi Berglund thought “it was too chaotic.” Gianna Rinaldi thinks “Taylor Swift would have done better than Usher.” Isabella Zuzek also shares similar opinions, she says “Lil’ John and Ludacris carried the halftime show. Usher did horrible.” Although, Harper Kalal felt “it was very entertaining, but definitely was not my favorite halftime show I have ever watched.” The opinions on the show varied, it all depends on everyone’s music taste and style, in this case, also how much everyone knew all the songs. Lexi Berglund stated how “I didn’t know most of the songs, so it wasn’t fun to watch.” The advertisements are also a big part of the Super Bowl. Harper Kalal said, “I liked most of the ads, but there were also some ads that I didn’t find as great as the rest”. Although Isabella Zuzek thinks that “they were silly and ridiculous”. Just like the half-time show, it was very on and off about who liked it.
