Comeback time

It’s playoff time in the NHL, and the Tampa Bay Lightning enter as the number one seed in the Eastern Conference. The Lightning finished with the number one seed in the NHL this year, and they looked poised to strike and win their second Stanley Cup final in franchise history. Everything is going right, from great team chemistry, to amazing perseverance throughout the games, to determined leaders, showing the team how to get it done, and get it done right. The Lightning had some of the best players in the NHL this season, with 3 players in the top 12 for points and goals made, as well as goalie Andrei Vaseilevski leading the league in wins, this season. After dropping game one of the series to the Columbus Blue Jackets 4-3, the Lightning look to bounce back Friday night and take game 2. Rhett Godcharles, 10th grade, said, “I know that in the end they’re going to pull it off. I have faith in the Lightning.” Rhett wasn’t the only one not concerned with the outcome of game 1. Colton Wicks, 9th grade, said, “I mean, if you look at the game, they were winning 3-0 at one point. So, if we can just keep that same energy for the whole game next time, we should definitely come out on top.” This will be a key part in being able to win the rest of the series, as the energy levels just dropped after the first period, as the Lighting got shut out after period one where they scored 3 goals. Kylie Kagan, 10th grade, said, “We’ve got this… we’re going to go to the finals and win the whole thing.” This confidence from Lightning fans have been earned this season, with all the great things that they’ve been able to accomplish. While off to a rocky start, the road to the Stanley Cup is still on.
