The football season is finally here; spring football started up this past Monday the 25th.

“It feels really good to put the pads back on, starting to get back in the groove of playing football and getting to see who wants to hit,” said Devner Zupan.

Spring is not the actual season for football. It is just to get all the players back out on the field and prepare them for the fall season which is the main time for football. During spring the team does a lot of training to help them get in shape for fall; the team practices every day right after school from 2-5 and will be practicing until May 5th.

“We do a lot of conditioning. We run through specific drills, and run through offense and defense,” said Denver. The team will also be playing two games during the spring; one game being the orange and blue game while the other game is against East Lake.

One new thing that this team is going through is a new head coach; previous defensive coordinator Kevin Smalley (Mr.Smalley) is taking things over. He said in a previous interview that the offense and defense would remain the same so things won’t change too much. The way things are run could be different, though, for the players as far as practice and game decisions. Team chemistry will also be a big change for this team because they lost a lot of seniors from last year’s season, so there will be a lot of new faces out there on the field as well as some familiar ones too.

“I’m looking forward to hitting the most because I have not been able to run since last spring and I have really missed the feeling of banging heads with someone,” said Denver.
