Warriors drop the flag

“We did not play like we usually do; we were not prepared enough,” said Taylor Collins, 10th grade.

Trailing 6-0 in the fourth quarter, Taylor goes running down the field to pick up the first down. The Warriors then get an illegal motion called on them that cost them a big gain and good field position that they clearly needed a lot. With little time left in the game, the offense is rushing, trying to score a touchdown to tie or take the lead of the game. Time ticking off the clock, Taylor runs again for a good gain of yards. Time comes down for one last and final play; Taylor launches the ball downfield where she has three receivers standing. It’s a jump ball for both teams, and the opposing team comes down with the ball to end the game.

“We have beat them every other time we played them, but lost this time because we thought we could just walk out there and beat them again,” said Taylor. On last Thursday the 14th, Osceola’s flag football team had a game against the Dunedin Falcons. The game started out good and bad as both teams were not moving the ball very well, and this went on for the whole first quarter with a score of 0-0. The second quarter was better for the Warriors; however they did have two plays where they could of had a big gain but their flags fell off (when the player with ball flag falls off the play is then over). Then towards the end of the second quarter, the Warriors had put together a little drive that took them down near the end zone. They did not come out with a score, but they most likely would have if the referee did not miss a pass interference call on Dunedin that would have moved the Warriors closer to the goal line; the second ended with a score of 0-0. The third quarter was pretty much just like the rest of the game except Dunedin scored on a touchdown run making the score 6-0.

“We lost. We play like a family, never blame anyone and work as a team,” said Taylor.
