March Madness makes way
The NCAA basketball tournament is under way, and there are plenty of wild upsets already. As many as 68 teams have a chance at winning the championship, and there is no knowing who will win it. Billionaire Warren Buffett has said that he will give 1 billion dollars to anyone who picks their bracket completely correctly, which is an added incentive to everyone who fills out a bracket this year. Many people had their bracket busted by Dayton, which was an 11 seed that beat a 6th seeded Ohio State.
One person who knows quite a bit about the NCAA tournament at OHS is Mr. Eeten, who teaches Sports Marketing and Business classes at Osceola. Mr. Eeten fills out at least one bracket every year, but this year he also helped his 9 year old son fill out a bracket as well. “I fill out my bracket by just going through and pick who I think will win. I also look at each team’s injuries.” said Mr. Eeten.
Mr. Eeten has Arizona to win the tournament, because he said “they don’t really have to play anyone.” He also thinks that Florida will go far. Mr. Eeten mentioned that he believes that Florida is in the easiest region and that they don’t have anyone that can really challenge them. He said, “Syracuse and Kansas are overrated. Syracuse only has five good players, and if anyone of them gets in foul trouble, they’re done.”
One interesting team to look at this year is Wichita State. They went 34-0 during the regular season, but they are accused of having a weak schedule, so it will be interesting to see what happens when they play some of the best teams in the country. “I think that they are worthy of a 1 seed, but they got a tough draw in their region,” said Eeten. For his final four, Mr. Eeten has Arizona, Florida, Virginia and Duke.
