Osceola soccer keeps rolling over rivals
Osceola girls’ soccer is a force to be reckoned with. They have gone to the State Championships for the last 2 years. They have beaten every team in their path this year. In their most recent game, they faced Northeast High School. Northeast has only lost 1 game this year and the girls knew it would be a tough match-up. The girls started the game with a quick goal from Cassidy Reich in the first 10 minutes then the girls started to keep scoring with goals from Alison Watkins and Courtney Smith. The team ended the game with a 4-0 win. “We played tough and we got the result that we wanted,” said midfielder Alison Watkins, 11th grade. The girls’ next game is Friday night against Lakewood at home.
Osceola boys’ soccer has struggled this season with only 1 win and 1 tie. Their most recent game was against Northeast High School, which is one of the top three teams in the county. The boys started the game slowly and never really had any chances in the first half, with Northeast scoring 2 goals. But Osceola’s boys started to turn it on in the 2nd half. With fifteen minutes to go, Warriors got a free kick and Nick Dawson stepped up to take the kick. He hit the ball and it hit the wall, came back to him and scored. Then five minutes later, OHS got another free kick and Taylor Abulone crossed it, and John Tischner had a tap in. The boys tied again for the second game in a row.
