What is the purpose of this lab?

According to Ms. Derenzo, "The purpose is to collect data to determine how much in each of these areas. We hope to find if this is true and try to find a solution to this environmental problem that may exist in the school."

What will be found?

According to Ms. Derenzo, "Particulate matter is an air pollutant set by the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency). Its side effects can be as mild as a cough (this is large as PM10 sized matter) or as small as PM2.5 which can lead to severe as lung disease). Theory suggested that distance from a doorway, height or window areas, impact the amount of PM found."
How will the samples be analyzed?

According to Ms. Derenzo, "By observing under a microscope or using a magnifying glass."

How was the lab prepared?

According to Ms. Derenzo, "The lab was prepared by defining a 3cm x 3cm are within an index card and simply adding a sticky substance like vasaline to that area to collect the particles. Yes this is easily done at home and can be identified by using a magnifying app to see the size of the particles."
