For many years, there has been talk about the popular app Tik Tok getting banned, but is it legit this time? As January 19th approaches, many influencers and users of the app are getting worried about losing business and entertainment, but will there be another app people will migrate to too?
Layla Pickard, 9th grade, states, “I use Tik Tok for entertainment purposes, and if it gets banned, I will move to Instagram reels.”
As the clock ticks down on Tik Tok, a big question people are wondering is if it will it disappear from their phones?
According to CNN, the app will not just vanish off people’s phones. If you get a new phone or don’t have the app, you cannot download it. But if you have the app, you just can’t update it, over time, the app will begin to bug since it cannot update, and it will slowly go away, according to CNN.
While Tik Tok can be a space where creators go on and make content that is funny or is relatable, it can be used to teach people many things such as certain recipes to how to solve a math problem in a certain way.
Users can also purchase things off the app and if it is banned, it can eliminate how many small businesses that use tik Tok to promote/ sell the products.
Marolyn Hiraldo-Vargas, 9th grade, states “I buy many things from many small businesses off of the Tik Tok shop.” This shows that many people use tik Tok for many purposes and eliminating it might have an effect on many.
