Did you know that luffa come from a plant? According to Ms. Randolph, the garden club director, “This plant starts from a small sprout, growing into a luffa plant. When the luffa fruit dries out and is peeled, you’re left with its fibrous interior. You can use it as a sponge, dish scrubber, or for anything you’d use a luffa for.” Ms. Randolph and her students will grow these luffa plants, that will take around 180 days to finish developing. She and her students began growing this luffa crop on September 11th, and it will be ready to peel and use sometime in the middle of March.
