Here at Osceola Fundamental High School, credit recovery is available to students on school grounds during the summertime and also during the regular school year, it is formally called Edmentum after school (ASCR, Formerly ELP). It is mandatory to attend credit recovery for some students, depending on their grades. Students must be approved by the guidance department and also the ASCR coordinator. A former student who took credit recovery says, “I think credit recovery was very helpful but going to school during the summer and having to wake up early when everyone got to sleep in was just a pain to think about.” Credit recovery is applied to English, Math, Science, and Social studies courses. It is a computer-based credit recovery program that allows students to work at their own pace until they have mastered the subject. Students must be aware that seats are limited. Credit recovery is available to all students that go to Osceola Fundamental High School, but seniors are given priority placement. Mrs. Reitz says, “Credit recovery helps you replace your D’s and F’s if you decided to retake the course again.” Some things students need to know is that they must finish all course requirements to earn the credit or grade forgiveness. Students must earn a passing grade of “B” on the subject exam to earn credit, students may not miss more than three days or nine hours of instructional time without prior approval from the ASCR coordinator. An important thing to note is that a student can get suspended or removed from the program for not meeting the guidelines. All procedures as outlined by the ASCR coordinator and instructor.
