Last Friday, the 2024 senior class mural was completed. “The theme is ‘Breaking New Ground’ both referencing being the first class with our updated logo, as well as their unique high school experience”, said Mr. Clay in an email to school staff. The mural is located in the main hallway, media center side, across from the office.
11th grade student, Paige Brisson said, “I like the idea and concept of the theme and how they ended up putting it into art. I’m excited to see what they come up for the theme next year when I graduate.”
Another 11th grader, Max Leeds, said, “I think it’s a nice tribute to the seniors because it memorializes their class and the accomplishments and journey they went through during their time at Osceola.” Journalism teacher Mrs. Deatley said, “I enjoy looking at the artwork because I love murals in general. I also enjoy seeing if there will be a senior class ‘gift’ left behind, like a bench or sign since it can be very meaningful.”
The mural was completed by the Vitale Bros, “prolific muralists based in St. Petersburg”. They’ve been creating art in the St. Pete area since 1992. These experienced artists have painted walls throughout Tampa Bay and according to their website, “have played a major part in St. Petersburg becoming a world-class arts destination.” If you are interested in seeing more of their work, you can visit their website, or their Instagram page, @vitalebros.
As tradition, all seniors in the graduating class of 2024 will contribute a signature on the mural to make it complete. This will take place sometime in the upcoming weeks, as seniors’ last official school day is May 9th.
