Who lives in a pineapple under the sea? Clearly somebody at Osceola Fundamental High School, because students in theater have been getting ready for this year’s SpongeBob musical. Many students love this idea and were practically raised by the yellow nautical nonsense sponge, but what are the students’ thought process about it? Many students say they are going not just because of entertainment, but because they get to miss out on classes.
Ben Morgan, a 9th grader, says that he wants to see it because “It looks fun and colorful, plus I get to skip my classes.” Based off of this comment, it seems that the setting and decorations have something to do with appealing to students. This seems to excite many students. Ben says, “SpongeBob is already a known show from like everybody, and it’s cool they’re making it into a musical, so I wanted to see it.”
9th grader Ethan Cavanaugh, on the other hand, sees this as an opportunity to relax and take a break, and what excites him is the fact that he gets to “see my friends during the play.” However, although it can be exciting to get out of class and sit with your friends watching this play, Warriors are reminded that it would be disrespectful to not only the actors, but also the people around them, if there are any distractions. As Warriors are watching, it is recommended that they keep in mind that they should sit still, keep silent, and turn off cellphones to avoid distracting others.
