This year, the Warriors in the Chorus have an opportunity to audition for Disney Candlelight. They recorded themselves singing for their audition. A freshman in chorus, Mariah, said, “We sang ‘O Holy Night’ and ‘The Star-Spangled Banner’ in one recording. We recorded it on a Samsung, and the audio didn’t work, and we had to record it again on an iPhone. It was a very exciting experience.” This event is to find the best of the best schools for their candlelight Christmas experience. Mariah and Angela, another student in chorus, both said none of the students had a clue if they made it and were very nervous waiting impatiently for the results. They got this audition for free, but it took a lot of their time practicing.
If they get chosen for the part, they will have the once in a lifetime opportunity to meet and sing with a celebrity for Disney. Rebecca, who is not in chorus, said, “This seems like a thrilling and interesting experience that will come around only once a year.” This is not a new opportunity for the chorus. Chorus classes in the past years have also been allowed to audition together for this spot. Osceola Fundamental High school won previously 4 years ago and got to go to Disney world and have a great time. Disneyworld.com states, “Each night, a celebrity narrator tells the story of Christmas, recounting the Biblical tale of a savior born in Bethlehem. Woven into the production are stirring songs of hope and joy performed by the orchestra and massed choir.” According to Angela, “This event will go from November 21st to December 30th, and we might actually have a shot this year at winning.”
When walking down the hall, Sydney, 11th grade, said, “They sounded great, I think they have a good chance to win this year.”
