Selected freshmen, sophomores, and juniors were invited to attend the annual Daytime Awards. The assembly took place on Wednesday, May 25, 2016, and lasted from sixth through seventh period in the auditorium. Students who received an invitation were nominated either for their GPA or by a teacher because of their excellent performance in that particular subject. Awards ranged from Dali Docents, culinary, and theatre to driving education, and much more. To begin the assembly, Mr. Campbell and his guitar class performed The Legend of Zelda theme song.

Madison Vaughn, sophomore, was invited to the assembly last year. “It makes me feel like my hard work during the year has paid off and it makes me feel happy knowing that my hard work is recognized.” she stated. “Being invited motivates me because it shows me that my hard work will be rewarded in the future. It sets a goal for everyone to achieve.” Madison added.

Bailee Schroeder, junior, attended the Daytime Awards last year as well. “It motivates me to do well because the school acknowledges our success.” Bailee said. “It shows my achievements through the year and makes my parents proud.”

“This is my first time going to the Daytime Awards and I feel very accomplished,” said Acacia Nelson, junior, “I have never worked so hard in one year.” Acacia remarked, “Getting an award encourages me to see that putting in effort does pay off, whether it’s staying up late to finish my English essay or finishing a packet early at lunch.”

At the assembly, students either received an academic letter, gold pins, or a certificate. To be awarded an academic letter or a gold pin, students were required to have a GPA of 3.75 or higher.
