Students say “yes” to chicken, “no thanks” to salad
As the 10:29 a.m. bell rings, students crowd the hallways for first lunch, waiting to enter the cafeteria with empty stomachs. The school’s cafeteria offers a variety of different foods, ranging from chicken patties to tacos. But one of the foods that does not sell well is the salad.
Pizza, grilled cheese, and cheese sticks are some of the popular options students choose for lunch that are vegetarian. The other vegetarian food that the cafeteria offers is farmer’s salad. “We only make two farmer’s salads. We’re lucky enough if the salad sells,” said Ms. Lang, Cafeteria Manager. “I tried to do different vegetarian options but the vegetarian options do not sell well.”
“The students will have to pick and choose,” Mrs. Lang said she tries to come up with more interesting ideas and is open to any suggestions, especially vegetarian food.
