FBLA members recieved state trophy and medal.

Four members of the Future Business Leaders of America team are headed to Nashville, Tennessee this summer to attend nationals. “FBLA is student involvement, which focuses on community service, leadership, and communication, working with students who are interested in running a business,” said Mrs. Thompson, FBLA advisor.  On March 21st through  24th  FBLA members attended the State Leadership Conference. Dozens of Warriors participated in competitions such as Mobile Application Development, Desktop Application Programming, Database Design, Business Plan, and Digital Design. Matt Cortez, Sam Rankin, Connor Hill, and Joey Sleppy won awards at state competition and will compete this summer with students from across the country.

Senior Matt Cortez and 11th grader Robert Crockett both enjoyed the event.  Matt is FBLA President and Robert is Vice President.  In the competition Matt created a mobile application.  “I had to create a phone app, which had a game, social media, and academic advancement,” said Matt.   Robert created a design logo and business card  with partner Hannah Gonsalves.

The key to their success?  “Mountain Dew, and long nights,” Matt said.     To prepare for nationals, he said, “I’m going to update my app by fixing bugs, going over rubric guidelines, and preparing (the) presentation.  He also said, “I am hoping to win 1st place like last year, but to also take home a good experience.”

Advisor Mrs. Thompson said it’s a lot of hard work.  “Students meet with mentors to practice, as well as adjust projects.”
