Nine week grading periods a possibility
The Pinellas County School system could be in for a major change beginning in the 2014-2015 school year, as a longer grading period is up for discussion. The new plan is to switch the current system from a 6 weeks, 6 grading period system, to a longer 9 week, 4 grading period system for all Pinellas County middle & high schools. The longer grading period was proposed earlier this week by the Pinellas County School Board, according to the Tampa Bay Times.
This change is one that impacts Osceola High school directly.
“It would affect the 91 teachers at Osceola,” said Mrs. Claerhout, who is the Senior Data Management Technician at OHS. The teachers at OHS would only have 4 grade books per year rather than 6. While the school would have less papers to print, report cards still will be moving to go paperless. “The goal is to go paperless regardless,” said Claerhout.
