Casting votes for homecoming court
October is here which means only one thing, Homecoming and most importantly who’s going to be on the homecoming court. On October 1st, students scrambled through the cafeteria to cast their votes on who they wanted to win. People voted for many different reasons, whether it was to encourage their friends so they could help them win or just to pick their favorite person running.
“Yes, I voted because I wanted to support my friends,” says Rachael Marley 10th grade. Even though many people voted for who they wanted to win, other students did not. “No, I didn’t vote because the line was so long and by the time I got there lunch ended,” said Alexis, 9th grade. Many students didn’t get around to voting because the line was too long or they just didn’t have the time.
“I ran because I wanted to prove that it wasn’t a popularity contest and so it could {raise} my self-confidence,” said homecoming court candidate Jennah Lilly, 10th grade. Jennah Lily was one of the many students running for homecoming court. Everyone running promoted themselves differently. “I just asked around and told people to vote for me,” Jennah said. Even though the line was long, according to Alexis and many other students, lots of votes were cast. “I thought the voting was good and it went well,” Jennah said.
