Dance Team takes the floor
Kick, kick, step, step, turn! The dance team is ready to motivate and applaud the Osceola Warriors football and basketball team this season by their up-tempo and lively dance routines. During the games students get to see the team come out and perform their energetic choreography not only to pump up the crowd but also to root on the players. So what goes on behind the scenes of the dance team? And how do they come up with such enthusiastic and complex dance routines?
“We pick out a song and choreograph a dance to the best of our dancer’s abilities” says veteran and captain of the team, Caitlin Mckelvey, 12th grade. Caitlin’s responsibility is to lead the team to ensure a great season and make sure she and her team prepare for the games thoroughly. Right before the game all the dancers stretch, review dances, and have a quick team prayer before going out and executing their routine.
“The best part about being on a team is that we always have a second family to turn to,” said Payton Foster, 11th grade. Having great talented teammates is good but to them having a great relationship is way more important. Lucy Baird, 9th grade, exclaimed, “I like that’s its small and we are all close.”
The dance team is practicing and performing now, but what lies in the future for them? “We will continue to learn new dances, grow as a team, and work on technique,” said English teacher and coach of the dance team Mrs. Powers. This year the dance team is going to continue to work hard to have success and triumph.
