Starting May 16th and continuing through May 18th you can travel back in time to the early 1900s with a little orphan named Annie. The Osceola theatre department is putting on this production in the auditorium. The play was chosen because of, “Its strong girl cast, its open to all audiences and it’s rated G,” said Mrs. Schellhause, drama teacher. Students are currently preparing and getting pumped for the production that will begin this Thursday and their last production will be on Saturday. Jenna Tuthill, 10th grade, drama student, said, “I’m really excited for Annie.”
Dress rehearsals and the process of getting ready for the production have been going “smooth,” according to Mrs. Schellhause. The Broadway play is about a little girl named Annie and her dog, Sandy. She is an orphan and gets placed into a life of luxury. During this period she, “makes her way into everybody’s hearts and learns a few things for herself.” Annie’s role will be played by Julianne Miranda.
The play is very well known on Broadway and “is currently in a revival on Broadway, said Mrs. Schellhause.” Jenna added that, “It’s really popular and very upbeat.” The production is next weekend and Mrs. Schellhause said, “I’m excited for kids to showcase all their hard work.”
