Starting next week, you may need to adjust your alarm clocks and leave a little earlier for school. Construction will begin on 102nd Avenue on May 8th. Although most of the work will take place overnight, some lanes at Bryan Dairy and Starkey will be closed during improvements. Debra Jaramillo, Engineering Supervisor, said, “Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures and some congestion; but at least one lane in each direction will be open at all times, so no detours are needed.”
The congestion may cause students to be late. Debra suggested that, “Leaving a little early would be a good idea – then no one would be rushing around.” In about two weeks, the construction will switch to daytime. According to Debra Jaramillo, “The County Construction Inspector on the job reports that for the next two weeks the construction will take place from 7PM to 5AM. At the end of the two weeks, there will be a major traffic switch (moves the traffic to the new or temporary lanes) and the contractor will work 7AM to 5PM.”
