There are 42 days left until students will leave school and begin their long awaited summer vacation. But before students will be sleeping in everyday and relaxing at the beach they must first prepare for AP exams. Last week on Wednesday, students who are currently in an AP class went to the cafeteria to fill out forms for their AP test. Not all AP tests are on the same day, but most students are eagerly preparing for exams. Kerry Hollis, 10th grade, said it’s hard to prepare because, “The studying is so hard because it’s boring, especially at the end of the year. But I am trying to start so I’m prepared.” Nicole Nesto, 10th grade said it’s hard “knowing what to study can be hard because we learned so much throughout the year.” Florida was ranked fourth in the nation last year for AP testing results. That is up two places from last year’s score rankings, according to http://www.miamiherald.com/2013/02/20/3244221/florida-ranks-4th-for-student.html. Nicole said that, “the standard does make me want to work hard but I would try and do well if there was a high standard or not.” Kerry agreed saying, “It makes me want to do good.” Teachers have been preparing their students all year for the AP exam that will take place at St. Petersburg College campuses. Nicole said, “I think teachers helped me to understand pretty much everything I need to pass.” Kerry said her teachers helped her, “so I can pass and meet that high standard.”
