“My sister was the model in the picture. The photo was part of my AP 2D Portfolio for the end of the year.”
This is what OHS senior Anna Cooke said about her artwork titled: Patterns on Amanda. The art piece that was created for Mrs. Wallen’s AP Studio Art: 2D course was placed on display in the Museum of Fine arts in downtown St. Pete to be judged in the 32nd Annual Congressional Art Exhibit. The event that took place on Tuesday from 6-8 pm, featured 150 student created artworks including Cooke’s, which took little time to create.
“It only took 30 minutes because photography doesn’t take that long and Mr. L (Locascio) even helped me edit it,” said Cooke.
Cooke even stated that the artwork wasn’t hard to make either. It just takes the right positioning to capture the best shot.
“No, it’s not that it’s hard, you have to get the right angle and have the right eye,” said Cooke.
After trying many times to win a higher recognition in past art exhibitions, Anna’s hard work and determination finally paid off.
“I’ve had 1 or 2 pieces before that didn’t get higher awards so this is the first time I got the Merit award. It was a good experience and it was for fun,” said Cooke.
