Book worms, literally

“I don’t know, I like reading and I guess nature, I kind of like to think it was for fun. I really wanted an art piece in the (surrealism) art show.”

9th grader Shelby Brooks created a unique art piece. The student’s work that can be found in Mrs. Wallen’s 3D art class features long colorful “worm like” creatures interwoven throughout an old dictionary.

It was a tedious task that took a lot of Brooks’ time but she continued through it all.

“It took me about 3 weeks because the worms were hard to create, they were made of paper mâché and I created more than what I needed,” said Brooks.

Surrealism is the art form featuring something above reality; they often resemble things from life experiences or a dream but sometimes it doesn’t resemble anything.

“I don’t know what it’s supposed to resemble but I like it (art piece) because I put a lot of work into it,” said Brooks.
