One 10th grader has jumped higher than any other Warrior in all of Osceola’s sports history. Jen Kistemaker is that very sophomore student. She is on the track and pole vaulting team at school, and made an incredible achievement in sports this school year. Jen broke the school’s record of the highest pole vaulting jump. The record that she worked really hard to beat is 10 feet, 6 inches. She beat that score by almost an entire foot. Jen’s pole vaulting score that broke the record is 11 feet, 1 inch. Jen said, “I put in a ton of time and I’m glad I get to see results.” A meet that she competed in recently was the PCAC’s which was held at Clearwater High School, Thursday, the 4th of April.
“States is coming up and Lord willing I’ll be able to place well there,” said Jen. Another student on the track team, Kerry Hollis, 10th grade, said, “Me and a lot of team mates saw her jump.” Kerry said, “It looked really high.” Jen has a lot of room to improve because she is only a sophomore. She said, “Pole vaulting is my passion and I hope to continue to vault and get higher.” Kerry said, “Everyone was really happy for her when she made the jump. It’s always fun to watch her.” Jen is excited to challenge herself to jump higher at her meets in the future. She said, “I would love to beat my own record.”
