Imagine waking up and realizing you’re being swallowed by a hole that is hundreds of feet deep. This happened to thirty seven year old Jeff Bush in Seffner Florida. On February 28th, he was killed by a one hundred foot deep sinkhole that engulfed his entire bed. For the past month or so, the news stations have been bombarded with stories of mysterious sinkholes “sinking” in neighborhoods, parks, and other public areas.
Could this happen here? “Basically we have a lot of water under the ground here in Florida called the aquifer. When the water leaves there is a hole left behind. If too much pressure or weight is on it, it will cave in,” stated Mrs. Ferguson, Physics teacher at Osceola.
