Students’ presents fill the halls with all sorts of exotic stuffed animals, gourmet chocolates and roses, the aroma of them filling Osceola as they pass from class to class. Students Zoe Cook and Justin Del Toro, both 12th grade, reveal their gift from that special someone in the picture featured here.
Today is a day that couples show just a little more love than a regular day, with presents and romantic dates. “Valentine’s Day is a day for my boyfriend to spoil me; we’re actually having a competition to see who can plan the best date. The winner gets a foot rub,” said Hailee McGarvey, 11th grade.
Other students see this as a money hungry holiday. “I don’t see the big fuss,” commented Christina Darring, 11th grade. “If my boyfriend “loves” me, he should show me every day, not just one day of the year,” she continued. Then there are the students who mock people for being upset because they don’t have a “Valentine.”
“Why should people be sad if they don’t have one? It’s not like they have someone any other day of the year,” said one former student of Osceola.
