Starting today, Osceola’s new security system took effect. All of the doors except the front office entrance doors were locked and students were directed to the cafeteria. Prior to this week students were allowed to enter at about 6:30.
“This new security process started being planned early October, late September. Gates with panic bars were added and this delayed it,” stated Mr. Robertson, AP. “We were concerned [that there are] too many entrances that weren’t monitored; we had to make sure the entire perimeter is secure,” continued Mr. Robertson. The recent Connecticut disaster was not the reason for these plans, Mr. Robertson confirmed, they just “proved that we are going in the right direction in the safety of Osceola.”
