Hunger got the best of majority of the voters for Mrs. Wallen’s annual Peep contest, picking the “Cup Noodle peep” as the winner. Jasmine Dorsey’s “Cup Noodle” won first place and Elizabeth Goff’s “Pac Man” won second. The prize: candy and Halloween tattoos. “I am always delighted to see which peeps win,” commented Mrs. Wallen.
This contest started off as a class assignment around Halloween every school year, until Mrs. Wallen decided to have them compete for a small prize. “Originally the idea came from Ms. Porter who saw it on the internet…we actually used real candy peeps the first year we did it,” commented Mrs. Wallen. “Over the years I have modified the lesson to use clay for the peeps instead of the candy as it was sometimes [too] sticky to work with,” she continued.
Voting was held in the library and even though there weren’t that many days to vote, there still were a good number of people that did. “I love the fact that the whole school, teachers, parents and visitors are excited to vote for their favorite Peep Costume,” said Mrs. Wallen.
