Last night at Largo Park, Osceola’s SADD (students against destructive decisions) group participated in the NOPE’s annual candlelight vigil. NOPE stands for Narcotics overdose prevention education. “NOPE for HOPE” started just a few years ago and the main goal is to help people who are currently addicted to or have been addicted to opiates/ prescription drugs, etc. There was not a dry eye in the crowd. “I felt disappointed that Osceola didn’t have a high turnout, this message is very important. I thought the lady who said she had her head in the sand about her son is a very typical problem when it comes to the parents of these children. They don’t believe their child could ever be in that sort of thing. That was my second vigil and it was absolutely great,” commented Deputy Shorter.
