Student volunteer earns award

Recently Old Salt Fishing Foundation announced Nick Dunn, 12th grade 2013 Jr. Old Salt Volunteer of the Year. The Jr. Old Salt Volunteer of the Year was created to recognize outstanding young volunteers who are display unselfishness. Also dedication towards the service of fund-raising festivals and events has made an important difference to their charitable efforts. Nick Dunn said,” I got 2013 Jr. Old Salt Volunteer of the Year because I helped out with anything they (Old Salt) needed.”  The importance of volunteers to Old Salt club cannot be overestimated. They are a large multi-event organization that operates with an all-volunteer team and board of directors.

Mr. Dunavin says,” We chose Nick because he demonstrated an exceptional commitment to our fundraising efforts and he has been valuable member of our event team for the last 4 years.”  Nick did a lot of volunteering for Old Salt. He said,” I helped with making, and picking up the T-shirts, and weighting the fish.”  They were able to donate over $50,000 last year to our local charities, which include the Children’s Dream Fund, PARC, All Children’s Hospital and a few other charities.
