Editor’s effort towards Oracle

Oracle staff members store all their work in this cabinet in Mr. Stewart’s classroom.

A magazine filled with stories, pictures, and music made by students at Osceola, is also known as  “The Oracle.”  In this, Warriors showcase their art, music, and creative writings.  Behind the scenes of accumulating the magazine a lot goes on, especially with the editors according to Alyssa Miller, one of the three current editors of the Oracle.  From showing leadership, to writing, to overseeing the progress, Alyssa does many things to contribute to the process.

“As an editor I oversee the art made for the magazine, co-run the after school meetings, and help with things around the Oracle class,” said Alyssa.  The question is how does she and the rest of the students in the Oracle get all the information they need?  “We advertise with posters, announcements, and various events.”  From all the working and writing the stress eventually builds up according to Alyssa and getting things done in time for the deadline is difficult.  “It is very stressful beating the deadline for me, things can get out of control when I don’t plan them perfectly and even then it’s stressful.”  Aside from all the stress there are many up sides and positives of being editor.  “I enjoy the people, being creative and making the magazine,” said Alyssa.

Over the whole time period of the Oracle (the whole year) Alyssa and the rest of the students work school year-round to finish the Oracle in time, before the school year ends.  The editors and writers work till the finish product is complete and the Oracle is ready for selling in the spring.
