Students’ sugar splurge

Snore No More coffee cart in action in November, 2013.

Osceola High School is one of the few schools that sells coffee to students, but is it a gift or gruesome punishment?

Zoe Perez, 11th grade, said, “I love my coffee fix; a day with coffee is a good day for me, but a day without coffee is like hell.”

Some students don’t rely on their daily dose of “Snore No More” as much as Perez.

Justin Scott, also a junior, said, “I don’t drink coffee every day; a day with coffee for me is just a regular day, and a day without is just a regular day for me.”  Justin also said coffee is not addictive to him, but he still savors every sip. “I enjoy drinking coffee time after time.”

It’s the same for 10th grader Trey Schulz.  He said, “I enjoy coffee; I don’t drink it frequently, though.

Wilma Howard, one of the coffee cart ladies, believes over the years the coffee buying in the halls of Osceola has increased. Wilma also believes that over the years students became more aware of the coffee cart.  So who is the biggest buyer?  Ms.  Howard says it’s the seniors.

But it’s not just the seniors who are buying cup after cup.  Tyler Melinowski, 10th grade, said, “I believe coffee is addicting for everyone; and also bad for everyone, so you shouldn’t drink it.”

Snore no More sells coffee in the morning through period 3.  If you don’t want caffeine, you can quench your thirst with hot chocolate or tea.
