Amongst the anxious expressions and blank stares at Osceola’s freshman orientation, there was a different face in the crowd. It was of Drew Jackson. Chatting it up at the journalism booth, Drew had an energy and excitement unusual for a 14 year old thrust into the maze that is the OHS halls. But, Drew isn’t a rookie in the fundamental game. On the first day of school at Clearwater Fundamental, he wore shorts. “Hey, why is everyone wearing pants, its 100 degrees out?” he asked innocently. Later he was approached by the principal who clued him in on the rules. It’s safe to say that Drew was properly dressed on Monday. This bubbly freshman loves to travel, and went to Northern California recently. “It was beautiful,” he smiles, and in his quirky way he quickly adds his only complaint, “eight dollars for a coke!” While many new high school students worry about lockers, lunches, and finding their classes, Drew would just appreciate it if he could tackle the stairs. “I love not falling down the stairs,” Drew laughs, alluding to his regular problem of tripping up and down them.
