A day in the life of the Bay News 9 studio; that’s what Journalism students experienced last Thursday. Instead of normally walking to 4th period classes, students headed towards the bus circle for a ride to Bay News 9. Once they arrived, students crammed into the elevator to meet up with Chief Photographer, Efrem Sanchez, Assignment Manager Tina Karagiannis, and Meteorologist Juli Marquez. Sanchez explained various things about his job as a photographer including: how a camera works, how the news team hooks up the camera to a live truck, and how they input and edit footage.

Afterwards, students took a tour around the studio where they spoke to Virginia Johnson, the Tampa Bay on Demand reporter, and Al Ruechel, one of the Bay News 9 anchors.

“I enjoyed the experience we shared with Al Ruechel,” brags Luke Silbert, one of the students who attended the field trip. “I like how he commented on my hair.”

There were reactions of excitement when he took time to read The Chief Edition.
