Corey, Chloe, and Bryant fresh from "Battle."
Osceola’s Battle of the Books team took on several other county teams today, bringing home a medal and placing 3rd in their division.
Students who competed say they took the contest seriously but still made sure they enjoyed every moment, unlike other students they saw. Corey Panabaker, 12th, said, “It was fun. But we were the only ones smiling.” Team members were surprised that other teams looked so serious.
Even if they didn’t win the competition, Bryant Nguyen, 9th, said it didn’t matter. “It was fun to get to know other teams. We’ll get ‘em next year.” Chloe Kamps, 9th, agreed. “I’m looking forward to next year.”
In addition to reading all 15 books, the team practiced for several hours for weeks, even simulating the competition with the media center’s own buzzer system.
